Stop feeling intimidated by garment patterns and start making clothes you actually want to wear.
Have you been using your sewing machine for a while but feel stuck on "simple" projects? Are you ready to move past cushions and tote bags and finally dive into garment sewing, but the thought of doing it alone feels a bit daunting?
This is a small, in-person course designed to bridge that gap. Over three relaxed days in Midleton, we’ll make a beautiful, classic blouse together—step by step, at a pace that actually allows you to learn.
The "Slow Sewing" Approach
The goal of this course isn't just to rush through and "get it finished." It’s to help you properly understand what you are doing and why. I want you to walk away not just with a new blouse, but with the skills and confidence to make another one at home without my help.
What We’ll Cover:
Preparation: How to choose your size and trace your pattern correctly.
Cutting: Mastering the layout and cutting of your fabric.
Construction: Sewing the blouse from start to finish with expert guidance.
Confidence: Learning to troubleshoot and handle garment-specific techniques.
The Details
Dates: Sunday 14th June, Saturday 20th June, and Sunday 28th June.
Time: 10am – 3pm each day.
Location: St John The Baptist Community Hall, Midleton.
Class Size: Limited to just 6 spaces to ensure everyone gets plenty of 1-on-1 support.
Cost: €244
Is this for me?
This course is perfect if you can already use a sewing machine confidently and you’re ready for that next step into making your own clothes. You don't need to be an expert, but you should be comfortable threading your machine and sewing straight lines.
What you'll need:
The Pattern: We will be using the "Patina Blouse" pattern by The Friday Pattern Company. You’ll need to buy your own copy (I'll send the link upon booking) and bring it printed to the first session.
Fabric: I will provide calico for a practice version. If you’d prefer to go straight to your final "fashion" fabric, I’ll send you a guidance sheet on what to buy once you’ve secured your spot.
Please Note: To cover the upfront costs of the venue, this course will only go ahead if all 6 spaces are filled. If we don’t reach that number, you will receive a full refund.
You want to make clothes that fit and feel good on YOUR body
You like learning in a systematic way, starting at the beginning & consistently building your skillset step by step
You care about comfort and how your clothes FEEL as much as how they look
You value sustainability and want to create clothes you’ll wear for years to come
You enjoy learning at a relaxed pace, one skill at a time
You expect “one-size-fits-all” sewing patterns
You’d rather skip the basics and jump straight into advanced projects
You prefer to figure things out on your own without much guidance
You prefer a task-based or results-only approach to learning
You’re more interested in making something new for every occasion
P.S. You don’t need to be naturally “creative” to learn how to sew.
You just need someone who can guide you clearly, calmly, and step-by-step.
I’d love to help you get your sewing journey started
